LMKT Sponsors 15th National Engineering and Robotics Contest in Islamabad

LMKT sponsored the 15th National Engineering Robotics Competition (NERC) 2017 hosted by NUST, College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (E&ME) in Islamabad.

We believe building young students’ interest in robotics and artificial intelligence is critical to meeting the technology needs of the future.

NERC, a five-day event, is the biggest competition of its kind in Pakistan and is organized annually by the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, NUST in collaboration with STEM Careers Program and Pakistan Science Foundation. The competition serves as a platform for students to increase their understanding of scientific and engineering principles used in the design process and showcase their talent in the field of robotics.

Keeping in line with this year’s theme of disaster management, the contest focused on building awareness as well as creating innovative solutions using robotics in disaster response and recovery operations. Engineering students from all over the country (168 teams from 30 institutions) participated in the competition comprising of four categories: Modular, Indigenous, Robowars and Game of Drones. The competition was graced with the presence of Lt Gen (r) Naweed Zaman HI (M), rector of NUST, who appreciated the dedication of all the participants. He distributed cash prizes to the winners as well as runners up in each category.

There has been unprecedented global as well as national advancements in robotics within the past few years alone. With the exponential potential for growth, LMKT is proud to be contributing to the advancement of the field through such endeavors.
